A couple of days ago, in one of their many Harry Kane to Real Madrid articles, Don Balon brought Pep Guardiola into the picture.
It was stated the Manchester City manager didn’t want to see ‘one of the great bastions’ of the Premier League leave England and join Real Madrid.
And that was that. There was no claim Manchester City themselves are keen on the Tottenham player.
Now their rumour plan seems clearer, with Don Balon today publishing an article saying Manchester City are keen on taking Kane from Tottenham themselves.
Guardiola won’t let the Spurs star leave England ‘without a fight’.
This is all ‘making things almost impossible’ for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, and is one of the reasons Real Madrid haven’t started talks with either Kane or Tottenham.
There’s a whole list of reasons been wheeled out by the Spanish rumour mill as to why Perez won’t move for Kane: Fear of Daniel Levy, doubting the player’s ability to adapt, wanting to spend big bucks on Neymar instead.
Manchester City are the latest, but the truth is likelier that Harry Kane is happy to spend at least another season at Tottenham, so it doesn’t really matter what Florentino Perez thinks.
But then ‘Player doesn’t want to join Real Madrid/Barcelona’ is unthinkable for many in Spain.
