The interest in Barcelona’s Marc Cucurella from Premier League clubs just keeps on growing and growing.
First, it was Tottenham and Chelsea who were keeping tabs on the young Barcelona left-back, with Everton then joining the race.
The trio kept returning in articles from both Sport and Mundo Deportivo about Cucu’s contractual situation, and now Manchester City appear to have joined the race.
That Pep Guardiola would be interested in a La Masia product will never be a surprise, but it’s the timing that’s rather audacious, considering the 19-year-old has just turned down Barcelona’s first contract renewal offer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga champions’ first offer didn’t meet his expectations, which leaves the door open to the likes of Antonio Conte’s side and Manchester City.
Both Premier League clubs have apparently made offers to bring Cucurella to Stamford Bridge and the Etihad respectively, but Mundo explain the defender would prefer to wait and see if Barcelona come back with a better offer before looking at offers from abroad.
It would appear the 19-year-old is currently edging towards an exit, but if the Catalans really want to keep him, they shouldn’t have too much trouble in convincing him.
They just need to up their offer a little bit.
