Although most of the Portuguese newspapers have stories about Manchester City’s chase for João Félix today, the winger is not the only Benfica player who Pep Guardiola is interested in.
Outlet Correio da Manhã brings a short story to recall that midfielder Florentino is in the Premier League champions’ wishlist as well.
The story claims there have already been conversations between Manchester City and Benfica for the 19-year-old.
However, the clubs couldn’t agree on a deal for the player, who’s currently protected by the Eagles with a €60m release clause.
Just like Félix, Florentino made his debut for Benfica’s first team this season, and is slowly getting a place in the squad, having made 14 official appearances for the club so far.
With Benfica having a plan to hold their stars and try to achieve big things in the next season, it’s very likely they won’t let Florentino go unless someone pays the full amount of his release clause.
Just like a certain Joao Félix.
