Aged 29 and starting just 29% of Liverpool’s Premier League games, it might be time for Dejan Lovren to find himself a new club where he can start week in, week out.

Luckily for him, Lazio in Italy are reportedly looking for a new ‘top’ defender this summer, and the Croatia international is the latest profile to be added to their list.

The news comes from Il Messaggero in Italy, who claim ‘everyone agrees’ the centre-back fits the kind of player the club are looking for, ideal to slot in right next to Francesco Acerbi.

Liverpool are said to have given Lovren the green light to talk to club after the Champions League, with a view to making somewhere between €10-12m from the defender’s sale, whom they bought off Southampton for £22.8m back in 2014.

The Reds’ relationship with Lazio is said to be good after successful talks for Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto in the past, even if the whole Bobby Adekanye situation wasn’t ideal.

Five years and a contract extension later, it seems the Reds and the 29-year-old are finally ending their adventure together, although the defender probably won’t be short of offers, with Napoli and Milan also said to be taking a look at him.
