Seemingly followed by a handful of Premier League clubs, Faouzi Ghoulam’s next destination won’t be Manchester City, according to a new claim by Calciomercato.
Desiring a stay at Napoli above all, the Algerian international also knows full well he could also move next summer on a free and try something new if his current club’s offer doesn’t match his ambition.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s side were said to be all keen on his services, yet the aforementioned Italian website reveal on Wednesday Manchester City have apparently dropped out of the race.
This, of course, is good news not only for Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp and Chelsea’s Antonio Conte, but also for Juventus, who never say no to a free transfer when the opportunity presents itself.
Prior to this, the latest report to come out of Italy regarding Ghoulam’s situation was on Tuesday, with Corriere dello Sport stating the release clause was the sticking point in the renewal negotiations.
The likelihood of the left-back staying at Napoli remains quite high as things stand, considering his desire to remain in the south of Italy, and there’s still time before January to sort something out.
