Not in Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City, Jason Denayer was always expected to have to find himself a new club this summer, with the likes of Celtic and Galatasaray fighting for his services.
However, it appears Lyon in Ligue 1 are the ones to have won the race, with L’Equipe journalist Bilel Ghazi reporting on Sunday evening that the Belgian centre-back was expected at Lyon that same night to pass his medical on Monday ahead of the move.
Yet to be made official, the move is expected to go through, as the same reporter revealed on early on Monday afternoon the Manchester City man had arrived in France, and had even trained for the first time with his new teammates this morning.
We’re guessing that means he’s also passed his medical, leaving it just up to the two clubs to exchange paperwork, write up the official statements and for Lyon to publish the photos to make the move official.
There’s still no real indication as to what the move is, whether it’s permanent or just temporary, but the 23-year-old’s current contract at Manchester City still has two years left on it (until 2020).
