In 2016, Kai Havertz broke into Bayer Leverkusen’s first team when he was just 17 and since then, the attacking midfielder has featured regularly for his club in the last two seasons.

This season, the 19-year-old has already scored seven goals and registered six assists in all competitions and his impressive form has drawn attention from top clubs across Europe, according to reports.

Sport Bild in Germany claims that Manchester City have joined their local rivals Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain with interest.

The Premier League winners’ scouts have joined emissaries from other clubs to watch the player closely in action for months.

It’s claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side have regularly been in touch with the player’s agency.

Havertz’s contract runs out in 2022 and he last signed an extension in July. When he signed a new deal, it was assumed Leverkusen would be playing in European competition every season.

However, their participation for the next season could be in danger as they are now 11th in the table and if they fail to qualify for either the Champions League or the Europa League, Sport Bild mentions Havertz could leave his current employer.

The German international doesn’t have a release clause, but the report claims the Bundesliga side will demand €80m to part ways with him.
