Manchester City have ‘asked’ about signing Nelson Semedo, report Sport on Monday, but there’s not a great deal of hope for a transfer.
The Catalan newspaper reports that given the interest the Portuguese fullback is receiving, Barcelona are considering giving him a new contract.
Jorge Mendes is said to have made Barca aware of City’s interest last week, and it’s been made clear to the agent and all interested parties that Semedo is progressing well and it would take payment of his clause for a transfer to happen.
Sport don’t say what that clause is, however, a little digging in Spain brings up the figure of €100m… and Manchester City won’t be paying for that him.
In reality, should they offer something like €45m, it’s got to be assumed Barca could wobble. Indeed, despite referring to the clause, Sport also say it would ‘take an offer way above market price’.
Sport report Pep Guardiola’s side have turned to Semedo after problems negotiating the purchase of Joao Cancelo from Juventus. They don’t mention Danilo, and he would be the elephant in the room here.
Nearly every Italian report on the matter has stated it’s failing to sell Danilo which is stopping the Cancelo move, and surely that would be the same situation with Semedo.
