Catalan newspaper Sport will not let go of Ivan Rakitic to Manchester United.

They’re largely fighting a lone battle on the potential transfer, yet have insisted for months that interest from Old Trafford is genuine.

In their Monday edition they have another article on the club’s interest, and make it clear that a sale is possible.

Manchester United need to ‘rebuild’ their midfield, according to the claims, and likely because of Paul Pogba’s situation.

Rakitic is described as a ‘priority option’ for the Red Devils. It’s claimed an ’emissary’ of the club ‘tried the option’ a few weeks ago, although Barcelona deny having an official offer and are waiting for one.

They’re considering selling the 31 year old, and would be looking for around €50m for his transfer this summer. That seems a mightily large fee for a player of his age, and it’s questionable what length of contract United would be ready to give.

Despite that, Sport say Barca refused €90m from PSG last summer, which is again hard to believe.
