On Monday, Record reported Aston Villa, Benfica and Barcelona are the options for Atlético Madrid’s João Félix this summer. It was also stated the Premier League side want to sign him on a loan deal.
This is relayed by Sport, who then share their own information on the forward’s future and Aston Villa’s stance.
Félix represented Portugal at the Euros and he’s set to return to Atlético on July 27st. He wants his future sorted before that date because he doesn’t want to train under Diego Simeone. His priority is to join Barca, where he spent last season on loan.
The player could also return to Benfica, while the report claims Aston Villa have burst onto the scene and they have ‘taken a step forward’ to sign him.
Barca, who are looking at another loan deal, have been informed about the movements taking place around Félix’s future.
Record’s claim is also relayed by Mundo Deportivo, who then state Benfica and Aston Villa are the attacker’s other two ‘main suitors’, along with Barcelona.
Atlético are looking to get rid of Félix permanently, to recover a chunk of the €126m they paid to buy him in 2019. The offers received so far aren’t convincing, and Aston Villa, for their part, are waiting.
The report says the Villans don’t seem willing to ‘throw the house out [of] the window’ for him.
Despite being the ‘main suitor’, Mundo state Aston Villa aren’t ready to go all out, while Sport claim they have taken the step forward to sign Félix.
Atlético Madrid are simply going to have to get more realistic and forget even making half of what they paid to Benfica.
