Benfica’s pursuit for Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi continues being a big thing in the Portuguese media, with all outlets trying to find out as much as they can on this chase.
There are no big updates on the negotiations today, except from a report from newspaper Correio da Manhã, who points out the player’s current injury is a big problem for the signing.
Still, outlet O Jogo managed to bring something else for this saga. They had a conversation with former Lille director Luis Campos to ask his opinion on the Arsenal player.
The official had big praise for Guendouzi, making it clear that he’s still a young talent who’ll get more mature through the years. His good opinion makes O Jogo feature a headline saying he ‘endorses’ the signing.
“I like him a lot, he has great talent, an exceptional talent, he’s very good both technically and tactically,” Campos told O Jogo.
“He was a player who showed up very young and whose first season in England went very well for him right away. The second one was not so good, it’s part of the players’ maturation and growth process.
“I have a feeling that emotionally he’s a player who hasn’t matured to 100 percent yet, he needs to mature more. By age, as he is still very young, he has a great future ahead of him.”
Reports from the Portuguese media have been claiming that Arsenal will demand at least €20m to let the Frenchman move this summer.
Meanwhile, claims from France continue to say that Borussia Dortmund and Marseille are in the race for his signing as well.
