Chelsea are edging closer towards completing the signing of Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven.

On Thursday, Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink reported the winger has made a trip to London to carry out the medical tests with the Blues.

Elfrink had also explained the Eredivisie side will earn ‘big bag of money’ from the 20-year-old’s sale to Chelsea in the winter market.

PSV face Vitesse on Saturday and the former’s manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy, was asked about the England U21 international’s impending move to the Premier League side. He has also backed up the claim made by the ED journalist about the transfer fee.

“A mix of emotions. We are losing a good player because of his departure. There was no turning back and there was a solid financial compensation. I can empathise with the importance of the club,” Van Nistelrooy said, as quoted by Rik Elfrink.

Madueke has scored two goals from nine games in all competitions for PSV this season. A move to Chelsea will see him return to England, where he previously had spells at Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur’s academies.

Madueke becomes the fourth attacking player to join Graham Potter’s side in the January window, after David Datro Fofana, João Félix [on loan from Atlético Madrid] and Mykhaylo Mudryk.
