Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to return to Atlético Madrid to bolster their squad for the second half of this season.

The Premier League side worked with Atlético to sign Matheus Cunha on loan with an obligation to buy if certain set conditions are met. During the discussions for the forward, Wolves also asked about Felipe. In the end, only Cunha moved to the Molineux.

Marca explain Julen Lopetegui’s side have again approached Felipe.

Wolves interest in the centre-back is also discussed by Mundo Deportivo as they state he is one of Los Rojiblancos players who could leave the club in the winter market.

Diego Simeone’s side have been trying to place the Brazilian at another club because of his limited playing time this season and a contract expiring in June.

In order to save on his salary, the La Liga side are about to let Felipe go in January.

Wolves are back in the mix for the South American because Lopetegui ‘insists’ on signing the defender.  The manager wants Felipe at his disposal this month.

With Atlético willing to sanction the 33-year-old’s sale and Lopetegui insisting Wolves sign him, Mundo explain he could change clubs in the ‘coming days’.
