In the months leading up to 2019 January window and during the winter transfer window, reports coming out of Italy discussed West Ham United’s interest in Inter Milan’s Gabriel Barbosa, but no deal took shape.
After a loan spell at Santos in 2018, the 23-year-old was taken by Flamengo on a temporary deal until the end of this year.
The forward has managed 22 goals and registered five assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian side.
‘London calling’ claims FcInterNews as they claim his performances for Flamengo have rekindled the Hammers’ interest in the player.
Flamengo are also interested in securing the attacker’s services on a permanent deal and they offered €15m to the Serie A side.
However, the Nerazzurri initially demanded €20m and further increased the price tag to €25m following his performance for the South American side and the Brazil call up. These figures are difficult for Flamengo to meet, which is why a return to Europe could become a reality.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side ‘think seriously’ about Gabigol and it won’t be a problem for them to meet Inter’s asking price. The Brazilian is also be open to the idea of playing in the Premier League.
FcInterNews states it’s worth keeping a track of how things progress in the coming weeks.
