Look, we know we’ve been saying this for quite some time, but this time it seems to be finally happening: Samu Saiz will soon be a Leeds player.
After weeks of “it should be done soon”, the Spanish forward is finally on his way to Leeds, pictured at Malaga airport, and the details have been confirmed by local television station, Aragon TV.
In their 2.40pm sports update (1.40pm for us), ATV explained the player was finally on his way to Elland Road in order to pass his medical ahead of his Leeds United move, with whom he’s had a verbal agreement for a few weeks now, rejecting offers from Betis and Alaves.
The TV show also claim the deal will be around €3m, with €1.5m going to Huesca, while the other €1.5m will be for Atlético Madrid, with the player earning just under €1m/year (around £16k/week).
Furthermore, they provide an update on the Alexander Gonzalez situation, who was briefly touted to follow Saiz to Leeds, but reveal that won’t be the case anymore.
It’s got to the stage now that only a surprising turn of events would see this one collapse, but after Jordan Amavi failing his Sevilla medical on Monday, anything is possible.
