Throughout the Jadon Sancho to Manchester United saga, and it certainly has been a saga, Ruhr Nachrichten have been the calm source to turn to for local Borussia Dortmund news.
Last summer, as others dived in headfirst and made all sorts of fan-pleasing claims, Ruhr Nachrichten continually explained a deal was nowhere close to happening.
They insisted BVB’s transfer deadline for Sancho was genuine, both before and after it had passed, and later said despite all the claims of talks and offers, Manchester United didn’t really do anything to try and get the signing done.
That they’re now very confident a move is on the way is a very good sign for fans of the Premier League club. RN state that the deal is getting towards the final stages, and they state Dortmund should receive around the €90m (plus bonuses) they were initially asking for in this window.
Manchester United are said to have increased their offer gradually, which is probably why there’s been so many claims of new offers, with some reports contradicting others, and now ‘a transfer agreement is approaching’.
Indeed, the situation is so advanced that Dortmund’s major issue now is looking for replacements, with PSV’s Noni Madueke named as an option.
