AS Roma’s interest in Norwich City’s Max Aarons continues to be reported in the Italian media, with the slant changing from optimism to pessimism and back on a regular basis.
On Monday, we covered a claim from Italy which stated Roma had made an offer to sign Aarons, on loan with a right to buy the fullback next summer. This was completely rejected by Norwich, which isn’t a surprise given how weighted towards the Serie A club the deal would be.
The following day it was reported that Roma’s interest is concrete, with manager Jose Mourinho being keen on the player and his club looking to bring in January reinforcements.
Gazzetta dello Sport now take a look at Roma’s winter market plans, and Aarons gets a mention.
They explain the track leading to Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot has ‘cooled’ and that brings the Norwich player further into the equation.
Tiago Pinto, Roma’s sporting director, has made some sort of contact over taking the Norwich youngster. However, it’s again stated they want the player ‘on loan with redemption rights’.
That, again, seems unreasonable, and just like they clearly found with Dalot, Roma can’t simply rock up at Premier League clubs and expect a bargain deal.
