Giovani Lo Celso has been a hot topic this summer and is sure to be continuously mentioned between now and the end of the window.
Tottenham remain keen on the Argentine midfielder but, as has been the case for weeks now, they are yet to reach an agreement with Real Betis.
With that transfer deadline looming, though, they need to get moving quickly to ensure they don’t miss out and make sure Mauricio Pochettino isn’t fuming in any more interviews.
Throughout the negotiations, Betis have made their stance clear, and the talk from Spain about them has stayed consistent, they need to sell, but they are in no rush to buckle to Tottenham’s strategy.
Diario de Sevilla cover Lo Celso once more today and explain the situation is still the same. Once again they push Betis’ need to sell Lo Celso to bring in reinforcements.
However, they explain that the club’s ‘leaders’ are in no hurry to finalise any deals and instead are keeping their fingers on the pulse, waiting for offers that match their valuations. This is very much the case for Tottenham’s pursuit of Lo Celso.
Betis have been meeting with Spurs throughout the summer, but Tottenham’s offers are yet to be satisfactory. In fact, they claim that Spurs’ offers are yet to break the €50m mark. That tallies with several previous reports that stated this was the most Daniel Levy would offer for the player.
Diario say Lo Celso still wants to leave so a new proposal is needed, while Estadio Deportivo back that up and say it’s difficult for the player to reject an offer of ‘that calibre’.
Indeed, they further push Betis’ desire to sell by saying they can’t afford for the player to become devalued and that everything is pointing towards an agreement being reached at some point.
