Bolstering their attack quite considerably with the arrivals of Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke, Liverpool are yet to strengthen anything from the midfield backwards, even though they desperately need to.
The apparent obsession in signing Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita seems to have made the Reds forget about other players at the club.
One of the best examples here is that of Allan, the club’s young midfielder who spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin.
The last time we got an update on the 20-year-old was back in mid-June when the Bundesliga club refused to take him back on loan after Liverpool’s demands were deemed excessive.
Even back then, there were doubts Hertha would want Allan back due to the emergence of Arne Maier, and it seems they were founded, as the latest update from Bild is suggesting.
The German newspaper claim that despite Liverpool ‘significantly’ lowering their demands for Allan’s loan, the Bundesliga club aren’t interested in the player anymore.
The reason? That pesky 18-year-old Arne Maier.
