Liverpool are yet to make their next move to secure Arne Slot from Feyenoord, with a second bid yet to come.
That’s according to 1908, who say Liverpool ‘still have to get over the bridge’ and move closer to what Feyenoord want for their manager.
Liverpool have seemingly made Slot their number one target to replace Jurgen Klopp, who will be departing in the summer.
They made their first move on Wednesday, submitting a bid to get Slot out of his contract, which does not include a release clause.
That was quickly rejected by Feyenoord, who have made it clear that while they won’t block Slot’s exit, they will only allow him to depart on their own terms.
Liverpool’s first bid was believed to be in the region of €9m, which is far below what the Dutch side are looking for, with it claimed elsewhere they could want at least €15m to let their title winning coach depart.
Everyone is now eagerly awaiting Liverpool’s next bid and 1908 say that is yet to arrive in the Netherlands. In other words, Liverpool are yet to return with a second, improved bid.
Why that is remains to be seen as this morning appeared to be the ideal time to do so after they appeared to delay to avoid disrupting Feyenoord’s match yesterday.
They seem to be debating what they want to pay for Slot, but there’s surely pressure on the Reds to get a deal agreed very quickly.
They’d be better off paying up and not dithering over what is a small difference for them in reality, but it seems they’re yet to come to that conclusion and Feyenoord are waiting for them to do so.
