Liverpool will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris later today.
The two clubs are not just fighting for the prestigious European trophy, but will also battle it out off the pitch, to win the race to sign Aurélien Tchouaméni.
For the past few weeks, we have covered multiple claims discussing Liverpool and Los Blancos interest in the AS Monaco star.
Real Madrid have long been following the 22-year-old and have stepped up their efforts to secure his services after Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé rejected the chance to join them this summer.
Saturday’s edition of L’Equipe explains all three aforementioned clubs are in the picture to sign the Monaco player. The France international is prioritising a move to Real Madrid, who have ‘recently improved their first proposals’.
‘At first’, he was ‘more tempted’ by Liverpool. The Reds have ‘followed him’, but ‘without having gone so far in discussions’. It is not excluded that Jürgen Klopp’s side ‘will try their luck again’ to sign Tchouaméni after Saturday’s Champions League final in Paris.
As it stands, Real Madrid are leading the race for Tchouaméni, but PSG haven’t give up on the ‘idea of seducing him’. Liverpool are also in the mix.
Apart from convincing the Frenchman, his suitors must also pay a fee ‘more than €80m’ to get an approval from Monaco. L’Equipe explain this figure is affordable for both PSG and Real Madrid.
