If this year taught us anything, it’s perhaps that Liverpool need a plan B when it comes to their attacking.
Sadio Mané hasn’t been himself, and while Mohamed Salah has still scored many goals, there perhaps is a need to take some of the brunt off his shoulders at Anfield.
Whether the Egyptian stays or goes remains to be seen, but Roberto Firmino isn’t an out and out scorer either, which the club lack through the middle.
That’s why the idea that Liverpool could go for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, who scored 21 goals in 37 league games last season, isn’t so out there.
The Reds have been linked with a move with him for some time now, and Corriere dello Sport keep it going on Monday, explaining that the Anfield side are joined by both Manchester clubs and Real Madrid in the pursuit of the player.
Fiorentina, down their end, aren’t interested in selling, which is why it’s stated that a ‘shower of money’ will be needed if a transfer is to take place.
That’s reiterated in the next line, with ‘monster offers’ wanted by the Serie A side if they are to even consider selling their star player.
With a contract running until 2023, there is no rush to sell this year, and the plan would be for Vlahovic to renew in Florence, perhaps with a release clause included to potentially facilitate a transfer in the near future.
Either way, it will be tough to get anything done this summer, but if Liverpool are keen, then there will be a lot of convincing needed.
