Liverpool are planning to ‘go strongly’ for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Sport Mediaset, relayed by Mondo Udinese, who say that Jürgen Klopp has identified the Argentinian as the ‘key’ to rebuilding his team.
It’s explained that De Paul is now one of the most talked-about players ahead of the next transfer window, with him currently boasting ‘many admirers’.
One of those are Liverpool, with it explained that Klopp wants to build his team around the midfielder and is ‘crazy’ about him.
The Reds needs something of a rebuild this summer after a disappointing campaign, particularly with Georginio Wijnaldum looking likely to leave, and De Paul would be an ideal replacement.
He will not come cheap, though, with Udinese wanting at least €40m if they are to let their star man depart.
De Paul, for his part, have already made it clear he wants to leave and play in the Champions League, and for him, an offer from Liverpool would be ‘really irresistible’.
Udinese are not against his departure either, they simply want to be ‘satisfied during the negotiations’, and €40m appears to be their breaking point.
