Thursday’s edition of L’Equipe had a transfer special and one of the major stars of it was Nicolas Pepe.
His club Lille are looking to raise €120m from transfers before the end of July, and the attacker will provide the largest chunk of that amount.
Liverpool were the club most prominent in the article with it explained the Reds had moved up a gear and are ‘very hot’ on the player. His Lille exit was described as ‘fast approaching’ and the Champions League winners had ‘come close’ to the €80m being demanded by the Ligue 1 club.
Tottenham also got a mention, but nowhere near at the same level as Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Now RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi has given his take.
On Saturday’s he’s said Liverpool are ‘well placed’ to make the signing, and the Reds are negotiating for the player. Bayern Munich are said to be in the same position, but there’s not much fuss being made of that in Germany.
Things aren’t at an advanced stage, with Pepe still thinking about his options.
Bouhafsi added that a third unnamed club is expected to enter the race.
