In the past few days, the Turkish and the Portuguese press have reawakened the rumours that Liverpool would be interested in Brazilian midfielder Anderson Talisca.
Talisca had been linked to an Anfield move at the start of the season, when even a transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers was mentioned, so he could get a work permit to play at the Premier League side.
That was of course nonsense.
Although most of the recent claims have quite muddled, with one outlet crediting it to another, Turkish Football have an article saying Liverpool scouts have kept an eye on Talisca in the Europa League.
But if the Reds are really interested, they depend on the competition to sign him. As reported by Goal Portugal today, as well as the opportunity that Besiktas has to extend his loan contract from Benfica for one more year, the Turkish side also have a €25m buying option over him.
However, despite Besiktas’ will to keep the player, that’s not a price they are keen to pay. That’s why they should be negotiating with Benfica at the end of the season. That’s what would give a chance to Lazio, who according to Goal are also interested. So Liverpool would be the third side to join this race, which could create quite an auction.
All of that said, Liverpool interest would be surprising. Jurgen Klopp has found joy with Brazilians Philippe Coutinho and Firminho, but Talisca would probably be too much of a gamble.
