Making his first-team debut in goal against Chelsea on Wednesday night, Alfonso Pastor probably would have preferred a different outcome.
The 20-year-old was unable to do much as Olivier Giroud put four goals past him, with the Blues walking away with a 4-0 win, and yet, despite the scoreline, the goalkeeper managed to keep it as respectable as he could, making good saves here and there to avoid further embarrassment.
Pastor’s contract at Sevilla expires next summer, making him an attractive option with potential for a number of suitors, including Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The story comes from AS in Spain, who report both the Anfield and Santiago Bernabéu sides are keeping an eye on the goalkeeper’s situation.
The situation is a bit different at Real Madrid, since Andriy Lunin, Thibaut Courtois’ backup at Real Madrid, is under contract until 2024, but they are keen nonetheless as they see him as ideal to make him the starter for their Castilla team, in turn converting him into the first-team’s third choice.
One to keep an eye on, and it could all depend on what Liverpool do with Adrián, since they have an option to extend his contract by a further year.
