Last Wednesday, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who claimed that Barcelona want to ‘shield’ Adrien Rabiot’s signing by agreeing a pre-contract deal with the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder in January.
The Frenchman’s contract at Parc des Princes runs down in 2019 and he’s already turned down four offers to sign an extension.
Rabiot will be a free agent next summer if Thomas Tuchel’s side fail to tie him to a new deal before the end of this campaign.
Monday’s edition of Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo has a story about the 23-year-old and they claim the Blaugrana are not the only club after the player, with Liverpool one of the others keen.
Liverpool are also interested in signing the PSG star as a free agent next summer and to secure his services, the Reds are ‘trying to seduce’ him by offering Rabiot ‘good salary and signing on bonus’.
Jurgen Klopp’s side, like Barca, also have the advantage of agreeing a pre-contract with a view to the player joining the club on a free transfer in July 2019, if the Paris-based club fails to extend his contract before end of this year.
It looks like there will be heavy competition for Rabiot’s signature, meaning any outcome on his future – barring the contract extension – will not be concluded soon.
