Liverpool are named as one of the clubs interested in Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé, according to Sunday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.
The winger’s current deal lasts until 2022 and he must decide whether to sign a new deal, leave the Camp Nou in the next market or wait until the end of next season to leave as a free agent.
He’s yet to make a decision, and the 23-year-old continues to gather attention from elsewhere.
The Reds are ‘thinking about’ the possibility of making an approach for the France international as the Anfield club and Paris Saint-Germain have the player on their ‘agenda’ for the summer.
In Jürgen Klopp, the Merseyside club have a ‘perfect connoisseur of the qualities’ of the World Cup winner.
It’s also claimed Liverpool are looking to restructure their attacking division for next season and as a part of this, one of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané or Roberto Firmino may be allowed to leave the club.
Barca, for their part, will make Dembélé available in the market, if he doesn’t sign an extension before the end of this season. They don’t want to let him leave for free in 2022, after investing in excess of €100m for his signing.
To sum it up, Liverpool are ‘thinking’ about Dembélé as they have him on their agenda. Time should tell whether or not Klopp’s side will take more steps for his signing.
The attacker has nine goals and four assists in 35 matches in all competitions this season.
