Besides the obvious coverage the English media give to the hunt from Premier League sides for the signing of Ajax star Antony, we often get something in Brazil on this case.
The reason for it is that São Paulo, his former club, are rubbing their hands while waiting for him to get involved in a big move, since they’d get a chunk of the money.
So as Yahoo journalist Jorge Nicola shared an update on the situation, he points out that Liverpool have been standing out in the battle for the signing.
It’s said Liverpool have ‘been keeping negotiations’ both with Ajax alongside Antony’s agent Junior Pedroso.
Nicola says that ‘it’s very possible’ that in July, ‘this auction ends positively for a transfer’, not making it very clear if it’s the Anfield side who are the favourites for the signing now.
It’s reported that Ajax demand €80m for the transfer, but the ‘tendency’ is that Antony moves for less, between €65m and €70m, while Liverpool are said to be coming ‘strong’ for him.
