Luis Diaz has been an influential figure for Liverpool this season, scoring five times in the Premier League so far.
As a bonus to returning from international without any fitness issues, it seems Diaz could return with an added skip in his step.
He played a key role in Colombia’s 4-0 win over Chile in the early hours of this morning, scoring the side’s second goal. James Rodriguez put on a show once again and his performance has attracted praise.
After the win, Diaz spoke to the Colombian press and revealed his admiration for Rodriguez, as relayed by Noticias Caracol.
“It’s an honour to play alongside him, sharing these last few years has made me learn a lot from him. We’re always together, sharing every moment is important.
“With his talent, with his personality, he always talks on the field, he’s super important here, we understand each other with sign language. That’s how I admire him, he always does good for the national team.”
Considering Rodriguez’s exploits over his career, he is certainly a role model for Diaz and that’s likely to continue.
The Liverpool player is seen as the man who can take on the stature James Rodriguez has had for so long, but the latter isn’t ready to give it all up yet… winning the Copa America Golden Ball earlier this year.
