Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho has been selected in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week for last weekend’s round of matches.
Each week the Italian newspaper selects the best eleven from players outside of Serie A, and this week Coutinho has been picked after his performance against Everton on Saturday.
Coutinho was back to his influential best in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Everton at the weekend. The Brazil international has struggled to find his form in recent weeks following his layoff with injury earlier in the season. Coutinho tormented Everton throughout the game, and scored Liverpool’s second goal after Matthew Pennington had levelled the score.
The playmaker will be vital in Liverpool’s end of season run-in, and the club’s objective to grab a Champions League spot.
Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit 3rd in the table, but with Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United all having games in hand they still have plenty of work to do.
