Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã today shares a strong update on Liverpool’s pursuit for Benfica star Darwin Nuñez.
The outlet writes the Reds will ‘do everything’ to land the striker, and there should be ‘decisive developments’ happening this week.
It’s said the Anfield Road side are focused on replacing Sadio Mané, and Jurgen Klopp believes Darwin has the ‘ideal characteristics’ to be part of the squad.
What Liverpool need to do now is to convince Benfica, because even though the Eagles want to sort this sale ‘quickly’, they also demand at least €100m to let the Uruguayan go.
Correio da Manhã claims Jorge Mendes will have a ‘decisive role’ as this could be one of the ‘business of the year’ in Europe.
They add that the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle and Paris Saint Germain have all shown interest in the player as well.
Most Portuguese newspapers have today been covering reports from England which said the Red Devils are working strongly on the signing, so it’s interesting to see Correio da Manhã coming up with this exclusive on Liverpool’s chase instead.
