Liverpool are seen as a ‘dangerous competitor’ for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr this summer after his agent revealed he will be leaving Vicarage Road.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport and Telelombardia, who both say the player’s other suitors, AC Milan, are wary of the interest from the Reds.
Corriere state that the Senegalese forward is ‘a favourite’ of the Rossoneri and manager Stefano Pioli like him, but there is ‘competition’ from Liverpool.
The Italian side are very active in their planning for next season and want to build a squad to compete even more.
He’s one of several options on the table for the Italians, but they know there is competition and ‘a dangerous rival’ in the form of Liverpool, who will need to replace Divock Origi as he is leaving on a free.
Telelombardia back this all up, stating that Milan have held a meeting ‘in recent days’ with Sarr’s intermediaries.
There’s no mention of how those talks went, but it’s been made clear the Watford man ‘costs a lot’ at €50m and that Liverpool are ‘also interested in him’.
Whether either side would pay that figure isn’t mentioned, but there is a belief it could change if the Hornets were relegated from the Premier League.
It seems then; everything will depend on that, so we’ll keep an eye on this rumour as we get closer to the end of the season and the opening of the transfer window.
