L’Equipe have relaunched the Thomas Lemar transfer stories, this time with an eye towards the January transfer window.

As the summer window was closing in August, all kinds of claims were made about Liverpool chasing Lemar, and whilst some of the old claims have fallen away, there’s a fresh slant on what happened in the past.

The French newspaper say that after Liverpool offered €90m in the final days of the transfer window, they’ll now ‘reformulate’ that offer.

As a club, so obviously going back to owners FSG, there’s a willingness to plan ahead for Coutinho’s departure, which L’Equipe seem to think will happen in the summer.

Lemar himself is said to be ready to consider an exit from Monaco, irritated by the club’s difficult season, especially in the Champions League.

But it must be pointed out that Lemar has been part of that difficult season. Scoring one goal and adding one assist since August, Lemar hasn’t been brilliant and there have been a line of better performers in France this season.

Despite that, L’Equipe believe Liverpool are ready to go again at €90m, to get Jurgen Klopp his Coutinho replacement, and Arsenal could wheel out their €100m too.

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are all credited with interest too.

If Lemar is worth around €100m judged upon this season and last then it makes one wonder what Coutinho’s value really is in this inflated market.
