On Friday, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp said Alexis Mac Allister’s knee injury “doesn’t look good”.
The midfielder suffered a setback in the Reds’ league win over Sheffield United last week. He initially carried on playing before being taken off after 57 minutes.
TyC Sports state the 24-year-old received two stitches and his injury situation ‘continues to be a concern’ for Liverpool.
On Monday, the Argentina international underwent ‘rigorous’ tests to find out the extent of the injury. It’s said the player hasn’t suffered ligament damage and has only suffered a ‘strong blow’ to his knee.
Liverpool host Manchester United later this week and claims from the UK had indicated Mac Allister may potentially be in contention to face the Red Devils.
However, the World Cup winner could miss this clash and also a few more games as TyC Sports state he ‘will have approximately 15 days of recovery’.
This means the South American would miss matches against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise [Europa League], Manchester United and West Ham United [EFL Cup]. The outlet adds his availability for the league games against Arsenal and Burnley needs to be confirmed.
Mac Allister has managed a goal and two assists from 18 games this season.
