The front page of Sport reads ‘Barcelona prioritises three positions’ for the next transfer window.
Three targets are ‘in pole’ and one of the them is Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno, as one of the positions the La Liga winners look to strengthen is the left side of defence.
His contract at Anfield runs down at the end of the season and he’s lost his place in the starting lineup under Jurgen Klopp. The 26-year-old is a ‘perfect candidate’ to arrive at the Camp Nou and is willing to ‘accept’ the role of a backup for Jordi Alba.
It’s further claimed the Catalan club are studying various options and all roads lead to the Liverpool player, who has a lot of points in his favour to be the new fullback at Barca.
However, he also has an offer from his former club Sevilla, while Lazio and Inter Milan are also interested in the Spaniard.
Moreno’s environment is aware of interest from the Blaugrana, but have not received an official offer.
As of now, Moreno’s is in ‘pole position’ and the report claims in the next two weeks, the possibility of Barcelona handing a two-year deal will be explored. The former Sevilla man is looking for a long-term deal, which is why nothing has been closed so far.
Sport further explains the Premier League fullback is presented with a ‘magnificent opportunity’ to continue his sporting career and Moreno is waiting for the final movements from Barcelona.
In the next few weeks, it will be clear if Moreno will join Barcelona or not.
Ernesto Valverde’s side were looking at a player who has the experience of playing in the La Liga and is available at low cost to be their second choice left-back.
