Loris Karius signed a ‘long-term contract’ with Liverpool after joining them from FSV Mainz in 2016.
Two years later, Allison Becker’s arrival at Anfield in 2018 and his signing saw the German keeper drop down the pecking order at the Merseyside club.
Therefore, the 26-year-old joined Beşiktaş on a two-year loan deal the same summer.
Karius has given an interview to this week’s edition of SportBild, and was asked about rumours linking him with a move to Hertha Berlin.
“I don’t take part in speculation. The fact is that I have a contract in Liverpool until 2022,” he said.
“And at the moment I’m just concentrating on the season at Besiktas. It is far too early to say anything about summer. Especially now that nobody knows how to proceed exactly because to the Coronavirus.”
The Liverpool owned keeper was further questioned if he’s open to the idea of returning to the Bundesliga in the upcoming transfer window.
Responding to that, he said: “I had great success in the Bundesliga and always enjoyed it. But it [a move] has to make sense.
“The most important thing for me is that the club absolutely wants me, has a clear vision and that both sides have the absolute will to achieve something. Above all, I have to have a good feeling about those responsible.”
Karius’ chances of becoming first or second choice keeper with the Reds next season look slim and a permanent move away from Liverpool seems like the best possible solution for the custodian.
Meanwhile, Karius also admitted he is in regular contact with the Liverpool boss.
“I primarily text to goalkeeper coach John Achterberg, almost every week. He is my first point of contact. But now and then I also text to Jürgen Klopp, I’m in good contact with everyone. I was never out of it,” the stopper stressed.
