Even if they are already expecting William Saliba from Saint-Etienne in the summer, Arsenal aren’t quite done with the bolstering of their defence, according to a report in France.
L’Equipe on Wednesday look at what can be expected from Reims over the upcoming transfer window, and one of big moves could be the departure of Axel Disasi.
The young centre-back, who turned 22 in March, has become a staple at the Ligue 1 side this season, starting all but one of their games before the Covid-19 pandemic, and his performances have caught the eye of many clubs.
The French newspaper explain the current situation hasn’t dampened the interest surrounding Disasi, and Arsenal are ‘keeping in direct contact’ with those involved.
However, they aren’t the only ones circling, as other English, Italian, French and ‘at least two teams in the top 7’ of German football have ‘come closer’ to Reims for the defender.
As for where the Ligue 1 club stand in all this, they confirmed to L’Equipe that Disasi has an ‘exit pass’ this summer in case of a ‘suitable offer’.
What that means isn’t clear, but following the sale of Jules Koundé to Sevilla last year for €23m, it’s believed the Reims starlet would fetch somewhere below the €20m mark, as he has less experience than the former Bordeaux man, but also because of how the Covid-19 virus has affected the market.
Either way, it’s hardly expensive for Premier League sides, meaning Arsenal, if their interest is serious, wouldn’t have too much trouble convincing their French counterparts of letting Disasi go.
