Having already lost to Real Madrid on the pitch on Saturday evening in the final of the Champions League, Liverpool could suffer another defeat to the La Liga side, this time off it.
That’s because both players are in the race to sign Aurélien Tchouaméni from AS Monaco this summer, with the Reds targeting the Frenchman for their midfield for quite some time.
However, Liverpool have yet to make a concrete offer for the 22-year-old, which is something Real Madrid have now done.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report the bid was made ‘over the past few days’, and while the ‘exact amount hasn’t come through’, they are in a position to say that it ‘is over €80m’.
That being said, it’s ‘not enough to make the principality club’s board flinch, who are talking in parallel with Paris Saint-Germain’.
They aren’t the only ones keen, with Liverpool also mentioned, as Jürgen Klopp’s side ‘had planned to act regardless of what happened after the Champions League final’.
That’s yet to take place, but perhaps this move from Real Madrid will make them speed up the process.
Either way, Liverpool are warned that it will take more than €80m to get Tchouaméni from Monaco, meaning the Reds will have to dig deep to get their man, and to overcome Real Madrid’s and Paris Saint-Germain’s competition.
