It may be a little early to talk about preseason, but Liverpool could be playing a friendly tournament in China next summer, according to reports.
It’s Chilean outlet La Tercera who reports it, saying that car company MG Motors, which sponsors the Reds, is looking to promote an event in the Asian country.
The reason why La Tercera breaks the story is because Colo Colo, who are also sponsored by MG Motors, would be one of the teams involved in the tournament.
The third team would be Shanghai SIPG F.C.
Although the Chilean league goes from February to December, Colo Colo would be available for the friendlies as it would take place during the Copa America in June.
La Tercera claims that the offer has been planned ‘for months’, and things should be agreed in the next few weeks. The idea is that Liverpool, Shanghai and Colo Colo play a triangular league against each other.
