Liverpool will need to pay at least €30m to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven this summer, with his agent confirming a transfer is possible.

José Fortes Rodriguez has been speaking to WAZ in Germany regarding his client, who is reportedly earning attention from around Europe after his performances last season.

Liverpool are one of those to have been extensively linked, with several reports claiming that they are keen, and the player asked about a possible move on more than one occasion.

WAZ explain that, according to their information, there is no offer on the table for the player at the moment but that can of course ‘change very quickly’.

Wolfsburg’s plans with such players are to let them develop at the club so they can be sold for a lot of money down the line and, so, if Van de Ven were to leave this summer ‘he won’t go for less than €30m’.

That’s the figure Liverpool would have to pay, with them having had their sights on the defender ‘for some time’ thanks to attention from Jörg Schmadtke and Jürgen Klopp.

They could make their move as they look to bolster the latter’s squad and his advisor confirms that a transfer is more than possible.

“Micky has played a fantastic season. There are many clubs that are interested,” he said.

“It would be stupid to say now that he will definitely stay in Wolfsburg. Anything can happen this summer.

“A player like Micky, who has developed so well – the calls from the clubs come automatically. I am asked: What is the situation? Do we have a chance?

“As I said, anything can happen this summer. It could be that he leaves. But if the right club doesn’t come along, why shouldn’t Micky stay in Wolfsburg?”
