Four days ago, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg reported Liverpool’s efforts to sign Southampton’s Roméo Lavia in the summer window are ‘concrete and ongoing’.

The midfielder starred in his debut season with the Saints, but couldn’t save them from relegation. His form has seen the Reds consider making an approach in this window.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to Twitter to report that Liverpool are waiting to sort out Jordan Henderson’s future before taking further steps to sign the 19-year-old.

On Wednesday, reports from the English press stated Henderson has received an offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq, who have recently appointed Steven Gerrard as their new manager.

Tavolieri says the Merseyside club are waiting for their captain’s final word before ‘sending [their] first bid’ to Southampton for the Belgium international.

Lavia has already held talks with Jürgen Klopp and ‘wants to play’ for Liverpool. Tavolieri adds there won’t be any problem for the two parties to find an agreement for personal terms.

Liverpool see Lavia as a ‘big prospect’ for the future. According to the journalist, they would have to first make room in their squad before taking further steps to sign him. That’s why they are now waiting for Henderson’s decision on Al-Ettifaq’s offer.
