La Razón claim Stefano Pioli’s side will be obliged to negotiate the Serie A man’s sale in the winter market, if he decides against signing an extension.
The Spanish champions want to take advantage of this situation and get ahead of the Reds and PSG in the race to sign the midfielder. The Milan star is valued at €30m, but Atlético could include Héctor Herrera as part of the deal.
Liverpool may have a trump card up their sleeve as they can offer Thiago Alcântara in exchange for Kessié, according to the report. Faced with the competition, Diego Simeone’s side could turn their attention towards Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.
La Razón are the latest outlet to detail this option after Il Milanista reported the possibility of a swap deal involving Thiago and the former Atalanta man on September 8th.
