On Friday, we covered a big piece from Portuguese newspaper A Bola which said Leicester City are interested in signing João Palhinha from Sporting.
In the same story, when recalling that the Foxes have already signed the likes of Adrien Silva and Islam Slimani from the Lions, they also mentioned the chase for Nuno Mendes.
It’s stated Leicester City have been interested in the midfielder, but are expected to give up on him following interest from other sides.
A Bola claims that the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool could make efforts for his transfer ‘at any time’, which means Brendan Rodgers’ side ‘may have lost space in this race’.
All these clubs have indeed been linked to Mendes over the past year, although the rumours on his future have gone quiet more recently.
But the 18-year-old continues being a regular starter for Sporting, and as with ever young Lion prospects that show some potential, the expectation of big clubs moving for them is always full of hype.
On that note, Manchester United and Liverpool will likely continue to be linked.
