While it’s all smiles and joy at Liverpool at this moment in time, there has been one major point of concern for many, Andy Robertson.

The Scotland international has been the obvious weak point for many so far this season, with several mistakes and lacklustre performances leading to questions.

That’s certainly the case for Sander Westerveld, who has aired his concerns to Viaplay via Voetbal Primeur.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper was at the Viaplay table this week to discuss Liverpool’s 5-0 win over West Ham United that continued their run towards the Premier League title and put them eight points clear at the top heading into the new year.

It was another routine win for Arne Slot’s men, who took all three points in comfortable fashion thanks to goals from Luis Dias, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota.

While they were shining, though, it proved to be another rocky affair for Robertson, who came close to handing West Ham an opener in the fifth minute after losing possession poorly.

Fortunately for him that never came to pass but the moment raised questions for Westerveld, who is growing concerned by the defender’s performances for Liverpool this season.

“These are things he normally doesn’t do in a normal year,” he said.

“He makes so many mistakes and this could also just be a goal. People often say about Robertson: he may not be very good defensively. But he is so important offensively.

“But that strength of Robertson has also not been there lately. His passes are mediocre. He should not keep doing this for too long.”
