It had been six months since Liverpool were last linked to Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick.
The 15-year-old had been a sensation in the U-20 Copa São Paulo at the start of the year when the Reds were said to be interested in the signing, and then their interest stopped being commented.
It turns out, however, that the Anfield side’s chase for the teenager is back to being reported on today, this time in an update brought by journalist Jorge Nicola.
On YouTube, the reporter claims Liverpool are one of the clubs who made an approach for Endrick, but are still to make any concrete attempt to land him.
“Liverpool have sounded out the possibility of making a proposal in the future. But didn’t go further, for now, than a poll,” Nicola says.
The same story puts the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid as the strongest contenders for the signing.
So it sounds like if Liverpool don’t actually move, they might end up being underdogs in the race.
Next month, when Endrick turns 16, he’s set to sign his first professional contract with Palmeiras and finally make his debut for the club. T
he forward is expected to have a €40m release clause in the first year of contract, which will then be raised to €50m and €60m.
