At the start of this month, we covered claims from Brazil that Liverpool have concrete interest in Fluminense’s André. It was also stated the midfielder has a €40m release clause in his contract.
The Reds are in the market for another midfielder after allowing both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to move to Saudi Arabia. They have already missed out on Moisés Caicedo and Roméo Lavia as the duo snubbed Liverpool to join Chelsea.
Liverpool are focusing again on André. That’s according to Globo Esporte, who state they showed the intention of offering €30m, but haven’t made this official so far.
That’s because Liverpool are aware Fluminense are not interested in selling the 21-year-old, because they want to improve their chances of winning the Copa Libertadores. They have made it to the quarter-final of the competition.
The Merseyside club opened talks with Fluminense earlier in August, when their place in the Copa Libertadores last eight wasn’t confirmed. Globo say Liverpool would have had a good chance of negotiating a deal for André if they were knocked out.
That didn’t happen and the offer they intend to table is €10m short of the player’s release clause. Under these conditions, it may be difficult for Liverpool to sign André this summer.
