Go Ahead Eagles youngster Jay Idzes has revealed his ‘dream’ is to play for Liverpool at some point in future.
Idzes is currently working his way up through the Dutch divisions, having joined Go Ahead Eagles from FC Eindhoven in an undisclosed deal this summer.
He had previously been a part of PSV Eindhoven’s youth setup before eventually joining FC Eindhoven in 2016 and then moving this year.
This season is looking like it could be a breakthrough one for him, with the 20-year-old having started all of his side’s eight league games and helping them to ninth in the table.
“As a kid, I didn’t have to become an astronaut or anything, because it was always soccer, soccer, soccer with me,” he told Voetbal Zone.
“And then I don’t even care what level I have reached. Of course, I dream of Liverpool, but I will have to show how far I can get.”
If Idzes is to earn a move to Liverpool in future, getting into the Eredivisie as soon as possible would be a wise move.
The Dutch top-flight has become a breeding ground for talent in recent years, with several players all making big moves around Europe.
Indeed, Liverpool have shopped in the league themselves, bringing in Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle for £1.71m last year.
That should give Idzes hope that a move to Anfield is not beyond reach, should he manage to make a big enough impression in the Netherlands in the coming years.
