While Cody Gakpo has been the man to make most headlines for PSV Eindhoven over the past year or so, it’s worth pointing out that Ibrahima Sangaré is also a very highly rated player at the Eredivisie side.

So much so, in fact, that Liverpool are very interested in him, according to Fichajes.net, after Chelsea reportedly tried to make a move for him on transfer deadline day.

PSV managed to keep both their stars, at least for the first half of the season, they might not be able to do so in January, with clubs expected to return for the pair.

Fiches believes a fee of around €50m would be needed to convince the Dutch club, which Liverpool might have to dig deep for if they want the midfielder.

Their poor start to the season, as well as injuries to their squad, meant they made a late panic move for Arthur Melo, but that always felt like a stop gap.

Whether that’s for him to then be replaced by Sangaré remains to be seen, but the website state that alongside Chelsea and Manchester United, ‘the most interested’ are Liverpool.

They explain Jürgen Klopp’s side ‘want to strengthen themselves with a footballer who can lay the foundations in midfield’, meaning sit in front of the defence.

The belief here is that he could complement Arthur, who would try to ‘exploit his most creative virtues’, and Sangaré ‘fits in with the desired profile to perfection’.

We’ll have to see about all this, but it would make sense.
