While the Liverpool future of Mohamed Salah has been a tad quieter these days, what with it being the summer and the Euros being on, there will come a time when the Egyptian will move on and a replacement will be needed.
Talk of Kylian Mbappé coming in was rife for a bit, but that always seemed more like a dream than anything else, with more realistic options appearing these days.
While there isn’t any direct mention of Salah leaving in Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian newspaper does claim that Liverpool are taking a direct interest in Domenico Berardi.
The Italy international has been one of his team’s stars at the Euros so far, picking up two assists in two games, and Sassuolo are expecting him to be in demand this summer.
A fee of around €50m would be needed to move him from the Serie A side, and while none of the interested parties, which include Liverpool, have made ‘formal offers’, ‘they could arrive shortly’.
Whether the Reds would move for him off the back of an International tournament remains to be seen, but the interest is allegedly there, and with Salah perhaps wanting a way out, it does make some sense.
